CROW 300x225 Eat Crow? Not Me!

Today for ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ I am going to chat about the famous crow! Last Wednesday I shared some pictures of the different kinds of birds that give us pleasure at our house at this time of year. They were all lovely, some cute, some majestic, some colourful.

At that time I said that this week I would tell you about another bird that didn’t give us quite as much pleasure in sight or sound – did you guess it was the crow? Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Sleeping Like a Baby…

This entry is part 2 of 14 in the series Whimsical Wednesday

Sleeping Like a Baby...It’s ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ which means I write about any little thing that strikes my fancy!

My fancy today is my new granddaughter! Sleeping like a baby! She is just 3 months old in this picture.

I am using her as an excuse to talk about sleeping. Sleep, is kind like money or sex, if you are getting enough you give it very little thought. But if you are not getting enough, it is a big deal! Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon I am all ‘For the Birds’!

This entry is part 3 of 14 in the series Whimsical Wednesday

Pileated woodpecker Dryocopus pileatus I am all For the Birds!

For this week’s ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ I am going to indulge my love of birds.

We have birdfeeders at our house. They provide such enjoyment for my husband and I. We are retired, we have time to appreciate the little things and we love the birds. We only have two regular birdfeeders in the back and two hummingbird feeders in the front but they keep both us and the birds quite busy. Bird watching can be a wonderful depression getaway! Hearts Toward Heaven!

For this week’s ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ I am sharing a poem with you that I first read on Beyond Meds. This poem inspired me, encouraged me, and reminded me of a truth that ‘no one can keep you from lifting your heart toward heaven’.

Refuse to fall down.
If you cannot refuse to fall down
refuse to stay down.
If you cannot refuse to stay down,
lift your heart toward heaven,
and like a hungry beggar,
ask that it be filled,
and it will be filled.
You may be pushed down.
You may be kept from rising.
But no one can keep you
from lifting your heart
toward heaven.

Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Depression is tough. But…what a wonderful thought, that ‘nobody can keep you from lifting your heart toward heaven’.

May you be encouraged to lift YOUR HEART towards heaven today.

I am so glad you dropped by today!

Join me again at ‘Depression Getaway’ and together we will…

…live, care, laugh, share, learn, discover, forgive and recover.

Don’t give up, I’m praying for you!

No Shoe Like an Old Shoe

It is ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ where I indulge in writing about any old silly topic. It is fun NOT writing about the serious topic of depression for a little while.

Recently I was getting ready for my morning walk only to discover that I had forgotten to pack my running shoes! I was at my lakefront trailer and remembered that I did have an old pair I kept around somewhere and when I got them out I thought ‘oh dear, I wonder if these will even work for me anymore’. But when I put the shoes on they fit ‘like an old shoe’.

Immediately I was comfortable and looking forward to my walk.  But as I headed out onto the road I couldn’t help but be aware of the difference between these shoes and the ones I wear now. Read the rest of this entry »

THE MOST DECADENT SUNDAE OF ALL!

It’s ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ where I simply write about whatever comes to my mind but it has to be whimsical which I guess means it is not important?

Just what does ‘whimsical’ mean anyways? I am glad you asked! It means “full of, actuated by, or exhibiting whims”. So then what are ‘whims’? A whim is “a capricious or eccentric and often sudden idea or turn of the mind”.

Certainly a whim would seem to be an idea without much forethought. Mmmm…. Read the rest of this entry »

Sun 291x300 Cool!

It is ‘Whimscial Wednesday” and I am not feeling too whimsical as I write this. We are in the middle of a heatwave in my part of Ontario and I don’t do well at all with the heat. It makes me sick. And with depression I don’t need anything else to make me feel rotten.

And so I am going to indulge my whimsy today in thinking about water and cool experiences!

Come along and cool off with me and enjoy these ‘cool’ photos! Read the rest of this entry »

u turn sign11 Depression 180It is ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ where I write about no particular theme and sometimes something whimsical.

Today is a more serious topic however, depression! There is nothing funny about depression.

Because I write this blog I often get emails from authors and other bloggers asking me to promote them.

When I got this email from Craig Meriwether about his new book I thought “ya right, another book about depression…. yada yada yada….” but couldn’t resist taking a look at it. The book is called ‘Depression 180′. Read the rest of this entry »

POSITIVE BLOGGING

It’s ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ where I chat about any old thing that comes to my flighty little mind!

Confession – I don’t read very many other blogs. Oh I tried, I really did, but so many other blogs about depression are – well – depressing!

If you struggle with depression you want to surround yourself with as much positive as you can and stay away from as much negative as you can.

The other important consideration with depression is to remember how easily overwhelmed we get and for me, too much information is overwhelming. Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon What a ‘Novel’ Idea!

This entry is part 9 of 14 in the series Whimsical Wednesday

novel What a Novel Idea! It’s ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ where I talk about any old thing that comes to mind.

Did you know that I am a novelist? Yup, that’s me!

I can finally say that because I have finished my second novel. I never finished my first one. So if I have actually finished this one, then I can call myself a novelist, right? Read the rest of this entry »
