Everyone’s a Winner When They Pray!
Today is ‘Faithful Friday’ where I share a story about my faith in God.
On ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ this week I shared two stories about winning prizes in a draw and then I promised that I would tell you today about winning with God.
From the first day I accepted Jesus into my heart I have been a winner with God. It was like entering a free draw that day but there was more than one prize. Read the rest of this entry »
How I Became a Believer….
It is ‘Faithful Friday’ where I share aspects of my faith, my faith in God, which helps me deal with the challenge of depression.
Last time (over two weeks ago!) I promised that I would tell you how I became a believer. (And then just now as I was checking over my blog posts, here it was, unpublished!) And As big a step as becoming a believer was, as life changing as this was, it is a really simple short story. Read the rest of this entry »
God Loves Birds – even Crows!
On ‘Whimsical Wednesday’ this past week, I whimsied about crows. I guess it wasn’t all nice either since they are not my favourite. But God sees them in a much higher light and I thought I would share that with you today on ‘Faithful Friday’.
The first time a crow, or ‘raven’ is mentioned in the bible is early on in Genesis 8:6 after Noah and his ark of animals have been floating around in flooded waters for 40 days. “After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven….” Wow, the raven was the first creature to exit the ark! He had an important job!
When the Lord spoke to Job who was complaining about his trials God challenges him in Job 38:41 saying “Who provides food for the raven…?”
When Elijah was depressed and ready to give up God sent him away to a quiet restful place and said to him “You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.”
And when Jesus is instructing the people how NOT TO WORRY he says “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds?”
So there you have it, one of my least favourite birds is important to God! Clearly God has a broader view of the animal kingdom than I do clearly he is God, not me… what do I know? Well, I know this. That GOD LOVES YOU way more than he loves crows!
I love reading about God, talking about God and talking to God. That is what I do on ‘Faithful Friday’. My faith helps me, may my faith help you too!
I am so glad you dropped by today!

“His Eye is on the Sparrow”
It is ‘Faithful Friday’ when I talk about my faith and how it helps me.
There is a story about a sparrow which I love. It is found in Matthew 10:29 when Jesus is instructing the people to NOT BE AFRAID. He says “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
I love that image, not only the image of God caring for the sparrows but caring for me too. This is a comfort to me when I am depressed. I do not think ‘if God really cared for me I wouldn’t even have this old depression’. Instead I think ‘what a comfort it is to know that God cares for me. It helps me deal with this old depression.’
There is a lovely song that explains this idea better than I can. Here are the lyrics:
His Eye is on the Sparrow
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
If you would like to see and hear one of my favourite singers perform this old song check this out!

Little Miracles
It’s ‘Faithful Friday’ again. I love sharing my faith and how it helps me.
Faith is a hard thing to understand for a lot of people, it is a hard thing to get for some people, but for me it has always been easy. Once I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of my life I always believed. I never wavered.
Have I seen a bunch of great miracles? No, not really. But I have seen many little miracles and to me any miracle is great. Read the rest of this entry »
God’s Loving Arms

I would like to share a true story today which I found in the book “The Finishing Touch” by Charles Swindoll. Here it is:
“Ignace Jan Paderewski, the famous Polish pianist and statesman, was once scheduled to perform at a great concert hall in America. It was a black tie affair – high society extravaganza. Read the rest of this entry »

Simple Faith
Today is ‘Faithful Friday’ where I share something of my faith and how it helps me.
Before I believed in God I was sure that it would be a complicated process to find some faith. But the teeny tiny step I took one day to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior was so simple!
Here is one of my favourite stories which illustrates how simple it can be to just trust in Jesus!
Jim and Jesus
“The story is told of a shabby old gentleman who every day at twelve o’clock would enter the church, stay a few minutes, then leave. The caretaker was concerned for the valuable altar furnishings. Every day he watched to be sure nothing was taken, and every day just at twelve the shabby figure would arrive. One day the caretaker accosted him. “Look here, my friend, what are you up to going to church every day?” Read the rest of this entry »

Need Renewing? Try the Power of God’s Love
It’s ‘Faithful Friday’ where I share with you some aspect of how my faith in Jesus Christ helps my depression and just about every other aspect of my life as well!
Often we Christians give the idea that if you just believe in Jesus you will have a perfect life. Not true at all. I don’t think we mean to give that idea but somehow it happens.
Anyways, for me, believing means lots of things. The first and most important is that I will have eternal life in heaven. This earthly life is just a temporary stop to something better. That is a helpful thought when I am having a bad day. Read the rest of this entry »
