PostHeaderIcon Depression Review: Keyword #7 is Recovery!

Recovery! Isn’t that what we are all working towards? Doesn’t it sound wonderful? How different would your life be if you were free of this old depression?

My fantasy life, a life free of depression would have all sorts of pleasant social interactions in it. I would have people over for supper. I would volunteer in the community more. I would be able to babysit my grandchildren just for the fun of it. I would travel with my husband who loves to travel. The list is long. How about you? Do you have a list of things that you would do if you were fully recovered?

The second question is this: is recovery a good thing? Are there risks? You might want to check out this article about the risk of recovery at Lift My Depression. There are negative factors to recovery that you may not have thought about.

However, RECOVERY is the goal and for many, recovery is possible. If you didn’t think recovery was possible you probably wouldn’t be reading this blog!

You may experience complete recovery, partial recovery or temporary recovery, but one thing is likely and that is, if you successfully explore and make use of all of these elements (DIAGNOSIS, MEDICATION, THERAPY, RESEARCH, STRATEGIES, and LIFESTYLE CHANGES) you should experience some degree of recovery.

Recovery doesn’t have to be just a dream, it can become reality for you and for me! Make sure you are clear on what you believe recovery to be. Many think that recovery means getting back to the way you were before depression. Others feel that recovery is learning how to live a reasonably full life despite depression. What do you think?

What would recovery look like to you?

You won’t like tomorrow’s keyword as much as today’s, but it must be said…relapse….

On that cheery note, take some giggle therapy before you shut me down. Don’t miss this one, I actually found a joke about a mental patient who was supposedly recovered!

I am so glad you dropped by today!

Join me again at ‘Depression Getaway’ and together we will…

…live, care, laugh, share, learn, discover, forgive and recover.

Don’t give up, I’m praying for you!
