Singing for Depression: Part Four
Do you think these cats need scientific proof that singing is a scientifically proven depression getaway?
How about you? Do you need proof or have you already tried it and found it to be helpful?
You may want to check out this study which tells you how singing sessions improved people’s general feeling of well-being and why it works.
Or how about this study which suggests “that choir singing positively influences both emotional affect and immune competence.”
Do you need more proof before you break out in song? Read this article which gives an even broader view of the positive effects of singing for all ages. Apparently singing has been used with seniors and altzheimer’s patients with really positive results.
I say that if it is good for them, then it would be good for us too!
So, what are we waiting for? Let’s sing! This might become your most fun depression getaway ever! Let me know how it works for you.
Next week we will chat a little more about not just singing, but the benefits of music in general. This is a strategy that needs to be really delved into. Tomorrow we will do our regular Friday Healing Through Writing Exercise. And on Monday I will start a new series called ‘Depression Heroes’. You won’t want to miss it!
I am so glad you dropped by today. Join me again at ‘Depression Getaway’ and together we will…
… live, share, laugh, care, learn, discover, forgive and recover.
Don’t give up, I’m praying for you!

Hi Wendy,
I like this week’s topic ‘Singing’ and your wise advice: ‘Try it! What have you got to lose?’
I would like to share a link I came across recently:
http://www.intenseexperiences.com/100-most-beautiful-song-lyrics.html
Hope it will inspire us all to start our own lists of favourite sing- along songs. I started mine!:)
Stay strong, remain hopeful and seek inspiration!
